View Full Version : Question No call issue during active data (2G) session

Has anyone faced a problem that when a user is on active data session (GPRS or EDGE), that user cannot receive any calls. When we try calling that user we get 'subscriber not available'. Shouldn't the data session be stopped to notify the user of incoming call as voice service should have higher priority that data service?
Any parameter that we can modify at BSC level to solve the issue?

thanks

Yes, The MS working in packet transfer mode cannot respond to CS paging messages over the PCH if the Gs interface is not configured between the MSC and the SGSN. This is because the base station subsystem (BSS) sends CS paging messages only over the paging channel (PCH).
So you have to configure the Gs interface between MSC and SGSN (if already not there) and then switch on feature from BSS/cell side "BSS Paging Co-ordination". Hope that helps.

We are using 'Network Operation Mode 2' and that's what is used when there's no Gs interface configured, isnt it? When using Network Operation Mode 2, GPRS paging is through CCCH channel, and even data-attached MS gets CS paging through this CCCH channel. But no paging is occuring during active data session.
Do you know the equivalent parameter for "BSS Paging Co-ordination" in ZTE system? I want to check if that parameter is turned off which could be causing the problem.

thanks
