Hi All,

Below basic/simple calculation of power boosting on LTE Network (multi vendor), we can manipulate coverage/RSRP by boosting/de-boosting the RS power.

Recommendation value for PA and PB

PB
PA
Remark

0
3
RS -3dB but PDSCH type B +1dB

1
0
RS & PDSCH having same power

1
-1.77
RS +1.77 dB

1
-3
RS +3 dB

2
-4.77
RS +4.77 dB but PDSCH type B -1.2 dB

3
-6
RS +6 dB but PDSCH type B -3 dB

PSD =(pMax)-10*LOG10(PRBs_DL*12), where pMax is Maximum eNB transmit power per antenna port and PRBs is Number of available PRBs in DL.
RS Power = PSD - PA
PDSCH Type B =PSD +10*LOG10(PB)

Thanks//BR

Hi

Interesting post in order to calculate the Power Boosting for the Reference Signal. Do you know if with 4x4 MIMO the gain is 6dB in the Rerference Signal and what is the impact in the PDSCH????

Many thanks

Hi,

Based on my experiece and below reference, we have same calculation between 2t2r and 4t4r.
So if your RS gain is 6dB, it means PA = 6, PB = 3, so your PDSCH power will reduce -3dB. It will impact to our DL throughput degradation.

isn't there a risk of RAR blocking ?! if you boost , what about planned cell range?

Actually RS power is for downlink channel estimation, sync ect. Yes might be will risk od RAR in rural area.

Based on link budget there is additional calculation if we used power boosting (impact to cell range of course)
