Best 3G and CSFB call setup times.

Hi Guys,

What is the best call setup time you have seen for the calls originating from a 3G mobile from Idle and terminating to a 3G Idle mode? One of our competitor averaging around 3s while we are averaging at 4s.
CSFB at both ends averages at 5s for our competitor while we are averaging at 6s. Let me know your experience.

Hi,


First of all identify in which stage you have more time consumed. RRC set up , authentication time, establishment , etc . Normally it is caused from MSS side not RAN if UE is in good radio condition while making the test . For example selective authentication in MSS could affect CST and some other features as well.


I am highly recommending to check L3 messages to distinguish in which stage between 2 operator time differences comes.

Agree. Core procedures affects CST but both operators doing Authentication for every 20 calls. What other core procedure may affect CST?

Check "Early alerting " from core side . Maybe your competitor got it activated while in your network it is not .

Hi,

It seems this 500ms is 50% of the difference and it is god to investigate from MSS side. Apparently it has nothing to do with radio to investigate further

Yes. It needs to be investigated but MSS nothing to do with this. It is UE takes 500ms to send RB setup complete message.
