WMS (online mapping) for Atoll 3.3 - working!

Hello friends!

Just 2 days ago installed Atoll 3.3 and main reason to upgrade was to check whether WMS is working properly now.

And it is!

It perfectly matches with your projection and your other maps (for example 3D maps, or DTM, or clutter types). See snapshot. In its right half i have shown my existing proprietary 3D layer.

The coolest thing is that now we can set more than one layes in "Online Maps" folder.

So basically one thing we need to set - the proper address of WMS provider.

I have added these maps but I am getting errors when trying to activate them.

< When activating 2GIS Without Logo >
ERROR 6:58:26 PM HTTP Status: 204 Status Text returned by the server : No Content

< When activating any of the Google Maps >
ERROR 6:56:12 PM HTTP Status: 404 Status Text returned by the server : Not Found

Hi, i tested this with atoll 3.10 but i get bad request errors when i input the URL. I tried the .ini config edit but not succes either, i don't see the list with servers.
When you say "right-click on Online Maps and choise New" what does that mean? because i don't see online map option. Thanks in advance for the help.

this version Atoll does not support Online maps.

Hi Bro. I am not sure if you can match your data with WMS perfectly. Even googlemap itself cannot match their data correctly.

Which does limit the usage of WMS overlay.

In the folder where you have installed Atoll has the file Atoll.ini. In this file you need to copy all of the text.In Atoll, push F5 torefresh.

This is not a DTM, it's just like a "Scanned Map". Only visual information, nothing will be used for calculations.
On the otherhand a "DTM" is used in the calculations/predictions.

Guess your in the wrong section of Atoll, unless it has changed. Go look in the "Geo" Tab and look for "Online Maps". If you found it,select the WMS Server.

I'm not on the latest version. But think things dont change that fast.

I don't know why, but your Atoll.ini file is not working for me.

Once you added the servers to the atoll.ini file you can add them via GEO Tab > Online Maps > Add... . Select the Map source or just directly go there without the changed atoll.ini and do the same procedure GEO Tab > Online Map > Add... and copy paste your map url. Don’t look at the WMS server, as it’s configured differently.

I guess there are, I'm looking forward to do this as well. However did not find till now a good source of free data, nor do I have a good tool to extract such data.
Working with QGIS to do changes in DTM, DEM and such... But maybe some more experienced users can help.

Perhaps a similar map, with the heights of buildings, can be created in Global.Mapper. This is a very difficult and big job. It is within the power of companies specializing in GIS.

Note that:


OSM buildings are not available for all countries
OSM buildings data are non projected (WGS84)
OSM buildings do not often have height information, unfortunately.


I recommend either to reproject with Global mapper or to save from Atoll to TAB or even better, AGD format (better for display and loading).
