Hi guys
Could you inform that for a feature of fast reselection from LTE to 3G is it necessary to define 3G neighbours into 4G?

If one says that he has enabled blind redirection from LTE to 3G, is it necessary to define neighbours of 3G into 4G sites? If yes why we say that it is the only 3G frequency that the UE checks to redirect itself to 3G from 4G and in such blind redirection UE does not make any neighbour measurement?

Mr Bond.

My understanding of the subject is as follows

1) yes you are required to define 3G Freq in LTE for HO.

2) for simple redirect , UE is not required to make measurements of UTRAN. if it is CSFB call , eNB decides the arfcns , which are pre-configured. If it is regular coverage based redirect , it is done based on SIB6 arfcns.

if however we are doing SIB tunneling based methods , in that case measurements are required ,and in order for specific cells to be measured , some basic configuration of the neighbour 3G cell has to be defined in EUTRA.

As desi_larka already mentioned for both cell reselection and release with redirect to 3G you need to define the 3G UARFCN on LTE side. You dont need to define the neighbors if you only activate the blind redirection and not the measurement based release with redirection. Defining UARFCN is sufficient for blind redirection to 3G.
