Hi,
Anyone have any idea about why I can only get max 14 HS Codes, while I am sure I am the only one in the cell, and maxNumHsPdschCodes parameter is also set to correct value 15 ??

HSUPA will use one code also.

In the forum this was discussed once so give it a "search" :).

Hi Shahram,

If number of HS-SCCH codes is more than 2 (let say 4) only 14 HS Codes can be achieved.

Hence check the numHsScchCodes

already checked numHsScchCodes=1 so this is not the case.
@samuraial (http://www.finetopix.com/member.php?15890-samuraial) How can HSUPA occupy the dl-codetree?! if you mean the control channels RGCH,.... it is already under code0 with other common channels, so this is not the case too.

Hi Shahram,

What is the CQI reported by UE? Does it allow higher modulation (16/64QAM) and many codes to be used?

hello ,
Besides the number Hscch codes to one, you need to set numEhichErgchCodes to 1

thanks, current value is 2, I am going to change it to 1 and see the impact, but how can I make sure this will not affect EUL ?

In fact I see the codes in 2 ways, using TEMS which I receive CQI=30 and some times 29, 64 QAM 100% of the test time. (it is a Inbuilding site).
the other way is to check the counters showing the number of available HS Codes, which shows 14 Codes available in max, which grabbed my attention.

if u have FDPCH feature activated it will consume 1 code , then check it if activated

Hi,

Please check number of numHspdschCodes from RNC side . Is it really set to 15 per sector/carrier ?

Cheers

dear shahram,

this only means that your signalling has been allocated more than one sf 16 code (up to 2), that's why you only have 14 sf 16 codes even though you are the only one in the cell

As already mentioned you need to set..

numEhichErgchCodes = 1
numHsScchCodes = 1

..you can see why in the illustration below. Any higher and you start using another SF16.

On a live network I would not recommend the above settings. You just have to accept that only 14 will be available.

Dear All,

We are facing the same problem with NSN.
Can anyone assist on how to get 15 codes ?

Check in the (cell performance monitor ->Cell code tree monitor) where is the 15th code gone as start point

Hi.
I other words. You have 16 codes with SF=16 available. If you have voice services, at least one SF16 is blocked for HS. Control Channel also could block another SF16, and also HSUPA. In real networks is quite imposible to get the 15 codes. Just in demo cases in a platform disabling services could get 15. The point is that you would need more frequencies and if possible to activate Dual Carrier in order to get higher speed.

Hi,
Possible you will find an answer in this feature functional description :RAN1686: HSPA 72 Users Per Cell - "The code space of HS-SCCH# 2, 3 and 4 code can be dynamically used for the 15thHS-PDSCH, if not needed for HS-SCCH. The HS-SCCH# 2, 3, and 4 are mapped to
the same code tree branch as the last HS-DSCH SF16 code. If this SF16 code
branch is not needed for any other channels, the BTS may use it for HS-DSCH
transmissions, therefore allowing the full use of the DL HSDPA bandwidth".

Hi All,

Activate SRB on HS and FDPCH to lower your code consumption.
Secondly if you set numHsScchCodes & numEhichErgchCodes = 1, then you would easily be able to get 15 code for one HS user in cell.

Brother, if we activate Activate SRB on HS, then for the mobiles that doesn't support HS what will happened for them? Any idea?

Two things are important here

a) Ue don't support, system will treat is as normal and operation will be fine.

b) Now NWs have high % of rel 7 & above Ues, as per 3GPP its mandatory to have SRB on HS & FDPCH so there would be visible gain.
