Hello Alliance,

Let's say network has LTE800 and LTE2600 carriers. Now Carrier Aggregation should be setup. What would be your preferable configuration and why?
a. Primary cell only on LTE800
b. Primary cell only on LTE2600
c. Primary cell on both carriers

It is not about vendor, but about general strategy.

Hi,
Some points to help you for getting decision :)
1. Normally you use 800 layer for coverage and 2600 one for capacity (like hotspot)
2. It is more in hotspot that you prefer to use higher throughput (Carrier Aggregation).
3. Whereever you want to talk about CA or capacity(2600 layer alone), you need the coverage of both layers :) :) So evidently you need 2600.
4. Your mobility strategy that fetch the traffic toward a layer (2600 or 800) talks more before your getting such decision (normally you set in a way that you catch more on 2600).

***. In general and current implementation of CA that both layer should be related to same eNB (and in some vendors, same sector); You can implement 2600 as primary cell; Wherever it sees it necessary and required, it will go for CA.

***. Anyhow, you don't miss anything if you set it on both carriers (even better if you don't have any limitation). You give the chance to both bands. (Don't forget that in any case both band should cover the position in acceptable quality level to have CA)

hope my notes are useful.
