What is the best practice for GPRS DNS configuration

Experts, could someone please let me know what's the industry's best practice for GPRS DNS configuration. We use root DNS for all in-roamer traffic but there is a debate within my team members whether to resolve DNS of roaming partners directly without routing towards GRX (root DNS). Please provide the pros and cons
