Satellite Iub

Hi friends,

does someone have an experience related to satellite Iub. I am interested in known bottlenecks retated to latency. Test cases and results are more than welcome. I am about to test setellite transmission in HuA environment. According to vendor doc the " the value of the Round Trip Time (RTT) on the Iub interface increases by 500 ms to 700 ms when the satellite transmission is used" .I wonder if it'd lead to serious quality degradation?

Hi! Quality degradation depends on alignment of most important timers from RNC, CS, PS Core with this latency. Usually such Iub delay leads to degradation of:
- Call setup time (due to delays)
- MOS (due to delays)
- Drop (due to timers)
- CSSR (fails after admission)
- HO SR (due to timers and synch)
- round trip delay for PS services (due to delays)
- PS User Throughput (ack delays)
and etc.
Usually RTT is only one bad side of satellite Iub. Such Iub may also have bad quality of this links that leads to NodeB synch problem and etc.
