Dear Friends,

I am looking for book which describes PRACH Planning in LTE. But no any normal information about that in the internet.
If some of you have experience in this work, could you describe please? How is it possible to start plan RSI (Root Sequence Index) for new network? If you wish you can check the following questions:

1. Is it possible to use 839 ZC sequence for all the sites? I mean should I leave any step (exp.: 10, 20, 30 or can I use 10, 11, 12) for one site
2. If preamble format is "0", so maximum cell range is 15km if I am not wrong. Should I define only one RSI for one cell or need more?
3. If you have experience in Huawei, then could you share your experience?

etc...

Thanks in advance

Hi ,
I've prepared a few slides dedicated on PRACH planning in LTE.
Based on the examples you'd get clearer view of the PRACH planning concept, I hope

Thanks Incoincov,

I have a following questions:

1. How did you calculate Root Sequence Index for the following example? Is it possible to use RSI like 0,1,2 or 25,26,27 not to leave step between indexes?
2. In our network I see that (Huawei) PRACH Configuration Index is NULL (not configured). How is it possible?

Hi,

Pls go more carefully through the material i've attached. The answers to your questions are inside. Pls refer to the tables in order to realize how the parameter values are defined. The examples will also help you.
Pls note that there are logical and physical RSIs.

Hello,

can you, please, explain how PrachCS/ZeroCorrelationZoneConfig value is related to cell radius?

Thanks

Hello,

Hello,

The PRACH Premable format 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 (4 is reserved for TDD) are dependant on round trip time which can be translated to Cell Radius. After you define your PRACH Preamble format then you have to define the PRACH Conf index and CS using a standard table (example : Preamble format 1 and RACH density =1 ==> Conf Index = {23,24} TDD and Conf Index = {19,..,21} FDD and for Cell Radius =arround ( 15km ) then CS = 12 and # Cyclis shifts is 119 FDD; this is strictly related to Cell radius due to round trip time). best of luck!

br,

Hello friend, First of all thanks for the document you have uploaded, its very helpful, i did the exercise, but still slightly confused by the PRACHConfigIndex value u calculated for 10 MHz band. You used formula (Overhead = 6/50x3/10=3.6) , now here 10 signifies 10 Mhz what about the other values, how you used them in formula?

and if the answer is 3.6 can we use 19,20,21. if no, why.

You may want to check LTE in Bullets Edition 2. Clarified almost every doubt i had.
