re selection in barred cell

Dear Experts ,

second carrier in our network is barred , when user move from DCH to fach he will re-select first carrier but he stay 4 Second after finishing measuring intra-neighbors and before start measuring the first carrier , i want to know why it stays this period and if there is timer control it ?

Hi,

the most probable reason is that your UE has to reread SIBs on your current cell on second carrier (as it has to understand that the cell is barred) and also SIBs on target cell in 1st carrier. In your configuration, the only option is to make SIB repetition cycle shorter.
