PLMN Selection and Cell search

Just after power on UE device , what is first procedure in UMTS network ?
cell search or PLMN selection ? Pls explain .

Different mobiles do difffernt search...but most of them to "the frequency which they were tuned in to before coming out of network"

Hi There,

After powered on, UE first performs cell searching. UE will get the system information from PCCPCH after cell selected and the PLMN information is transmitted in MIB of PCCPCH.
