LTE-A and LTE UE categories

Hello Experts,

can anyone answer the following question:

LTE-A UE with cat.7 is operating in the network that does not support LTE-A (it is old LTE Rel.8 network). Which LTE category the UE will report to the network?

Aren't LTE-A capable UEs release 10? I guess the UE will report its actual categoty nevertheless the nw capability. From my knowledge lte-a capable devices are limited available ... therefore never actual experienced it

Hi,

my question was what category rel.10 UE will report on nw that is rel.8. It cannot report cat.7, because nw will not understand RRC extended syntax. The question is purely theoretical.
