Hi experts,
Why in 3G default set power for Control channels and all other channels is lesser than CPICH power? Doesn't it create mismatch of coverage?
Does anyone has document to describe power/coverage between different channels?

Thanks!

Because CPICH serves as pilot i.e. allows the MS to find the network and lock on it. Based on it, the MS can analyze channel conditions and can extract information (data) from other control channels. CPICH is usually 30dBm while the power of the rest is subject to initial planning and optimization.

Because when the UE or MS starts acquisition, it has no synchronization info so to enable a MS to successfully decode and detect CPICH or Pilot channel, The transmit power of CPICH in WCDMA and Pilot channel in CDMA 2000 is always more than other control channel. Once successfully synchronized, the MS can easily decode the channel info with much lower Thresholds, so less transmit power.jamilRepo required
