Dear Gents;

Would you please I have a question regarding detection of the current frequency reuse plan in the current network either it is 1X1 or 1X3..etc?

Hi!
Check frequencies of few cells (all cells on two neighbor sites are fine).
For GSM, ignore BCCH.
If all are same, it is 1:1 reuse. If there are three different sets, it is 1:3 reuse. If you found more, it is some other approach.

1x1 or 1x3 re-use plans concern the hopping group mainly in GSM. Count approximately the number of frequency in the hopping group, if it is greater than 30, there is a strong chance that it should be 1x1. Otherwise, it can be 1x3. The maximum TRX on a sector can be up to 14-18 TRX (But with UMTS deployment, it reduces the need for high-capacity config for GSM) therefore, one can assume that TRX number rarely trespasses the amount of 12-14 TRX (1 whole E******* cabinet RBS 2x06), assume 2 frequencies minimum for each Trx, give at least 28 frequencies plus 2 additional safety frequencies yield 30 for hopping group. This example concerns mainly GSM systems. It is not applicable to LTE which uses the subcarrier with narrow bandwith therefore a whole different ballgame.
