Change t3101 and max_retran

Dear all
We have flow control alarm because of RACH and I changed
T3101 and max_retran, will it effect the number of calls

Hope u are increasing T3101 duration (to avoid frequent RACH re-tranmissions) & Decreasing Max_retrans(to minimize RACH re-transmisson attempts).


Well it may not effect the number of calls as one who needs to make a call will do make a call (assuming he has the coverage and call access to the network) :D


What will be effected is your KPI Stats:


Increasing T3101 will increase ur Call Setup time. High value of this timer may also waste the channel resources and cause congestion. So,just make sure the cell has low traffic before increasing the timer.


Decreasing Max_Retrans can affect ur Immediate Assignment success rate.


Changing Parameters is just a trade-off between the KPI's.U can improve one at the expense of other.So, the suggestion is find the real cause of RACH surge & remedy it accordingly.


Also do check ur RACH Overflow Alarm threshold just to make sure that nobody has accidentally set it to too low value.

I change this parameters because I saw an alarm of flow cotorol because of RACH, and some classes of mobiles have been barred.
