View Full Version : Question Different from RRC and RAB?

In UTMS network, we have two group of KPI RRC and RAB such as RRC Setup Success Rate and RAB setup success rate, but i don't know how different of them. Please, someone help me to know them, or have document to explain it.

Hello So Happy,
RRC is used for signaling purposes while RAB is used for Data transfer.
As an example Authentication, security mode check, NAS massages are handled by RRC. As an example, Location update procedure is just pure signaling and it is done on RRC.
Please note RRC function is located in RNC and all NAS massages (like as LU, registration, CM service request etc... ) will be encapsulated in RRC messages and would be transparent to RNC that's why you will see "DL/UL direct transfer" and then followed by a NAS massage

Actually RAB and standalone RRC both are radio links and physically there is no difference between them except the SF and the way user-plane will be send
