Call Setup time improvement

Hi, What optimization required to improve the CST in NSN 2G & 3G. Please do share what are the feature and parameter to be set to ensure CST is at 6 to 7sec.

Hi,

In order to improve CST, you need to understand all the signaling phases of a call setup and then act accordingly. What i can recommend you is as follow:

1- In case that you have Authentication during call, you can simply remove it, and limit authentication to location update procedure. removing Authentication can save a lot of time.
2- If you really need to check the IMEI, you can combine this with Classmark update procedure.
3- You HLR performance during Routing Number Interrogation is very important.
4- Early assignment proven to be more efficient in terms of resource management and CST, in compare to Late assignment.
5- Your online charging performance and delay for Pre-paid subs is another crucial matter.
6- Resource congestion on all interfaces can make a lot of difficulty. In case that you have call queuing activated in your RAN side, then parameter tuning can affect your CST.
7- As dtvt2 mentioned Paging performance and paging response time, 100% correlate with MO-CST.
8- Also each vendor, has its own features in core and RAN part which can improve or degrade CST.

Anyway all above points need alot of discussion and study. Please do let me know if you need any help

in case you still dont have an answer, please try to disable EarlySendingIndication (ESI) --> only in 2G

Hi Rifa,

How much is the Call Setup time in your network? Hope you have got the solution by now. If not, then please try for Authentication parameter AMOC=10 and IMEI check parameter IMOC=10 for Home PLMN in PLMN definition. Also, there should not be any signaling overload with BSC, HLR and STP (if HLR query is through STP).

For 3G part you can use call establishment on DCH 13.3kbps instead of 3.4kbps but this will increase your power and code utilization....
