View Full Version : Question Free of charge clutter now available in ICS tools
Just today, ATDI (http://www.atdi.com)has advertised (http://www.atdi.com/free-of-charge-clutter-now-available-in-ics-tools/)that its ICS tools are capable to generate clutters maps from Corine Land Cover Data and from Open Street Map. It woulod be nice if someone can share one of its tools so we could see how much we could use that functions to generate the clutter and re-convert the clutter maps for other tools as well.
Hi Friends,
Does anybody know (or have step-by-step tutorial on) how to use above functionality of ICS Telecom to have clutter maps out of Open Street Map data?
Many thanks in advance!

I think, it is possible only in last version of ICS telecom.
Or use gis tools (Global mapper) to create shape file / files out of OSM data.
Import shape to vector in ICS telecom (Import-Vector layer-Import shp-Polygon, parameters-ident: set clutter value). Import other shp.
Convert vector code to clutter code (Map-Vector layer-display vector, select vector code, set clutter code value, convert clutter)

Hi Zeus,
After downloading the OSM files and include the root directory, when I push start, I got many pop windows that show the folowing :
1. Report file open
2. File open error,
And nothing happen.
The osm file extension that I download is osm extension

Ics telecom use vectors so you must use the OSM shp and not osm extention.

What about africa, I do not found the osm shp files ?

Famox, go here (http://download.geofabrik.de/africa.html). You will find shape files you need for many african countries/sub-regions.
As zeuscane said, you need to download *.shp files (second column) in frond of each country (if available)

Famox, if you are interested in other areas, then you better go here (http://www.geofabrik.de/data/shapefiles.html) and find regions/countries/even cities which are in your interest.
One general piece of advice for those who wants to build the clutter map out of OSM data.
If you use a medium DTM (say, 30/50/100 m), then better to avoid converting roads and other line vectors (probably) into clutter. Otherwise (most probably) you will get inappropriate clutter map since instead of building footprints, you'll get roads in the clutter map.
Regards, and enjoy using that functions of ICS Telecom!

You must have a Digital Terrain Model xxx.geo.
Create a new project with ICS Telecom.
Download the shape file from http://download.geofabrik.de/asia.html of the nation's Digital Terrain model and unzip to a directory.
In ICS Telecom Map Menu, Menu Rasteroperation, Menu Modify Raster Clutter from OSM Menu/CLC shapefiles , in this mode will open a new window and in this you'll see OSM folder location.
Points to the folder where you've put the shapefiles that you have downloaded.
Click on start and wait for ICS Telecom create clutter.
Clutter classes are those indicated in numbers in this window.
