There is a free software dvelop by Roger Coudé (VE2DBE) called Radio Mobile. It is a very good free tool that have also a big number of people that have use it for different type of radio design and applications. I use it to exemplify the application of capacity analysis for mesh networking since with the digital terrain model and the propagation model you can compute for instance Gmatrix. There is a community that have helped many starting RF engineers to understand the radio propagation modeling analysis and design.
