CDMA2000 1X Network Key Performance Indicators
(Approach based on Network Counters)

The purpose of this document is to identify a set of recommended key performance indicators (KPIs) that should be monitored by the network operator on the ongoing basis of an operational CDMA2000 1X network. It is important for the network operator to have the same set of KPIs throughout its network to accurately and consistently measure network performance of all network vendors. In addition, Primary KPIs can be used to monitor the high level network performance and Secondary KPIs can be used to monitor the performance of low level network issues like resource utilization, RAN and handoff performance etc. The Network KPIs will point out the network problems and the detailed analysis & debugging of the problem can be carried out by monitoring the various network counters related to the problem.
For performance monitoring purpose, operators can define various ranges for the performance of each metric based on network operation requirements. For ex: Drop call rate between 1-2% is excellent, 2-3% is average and more than 3% is poor.
Note: All the KPIs are assumed to be calculated using network counters
