Dear All,

Could plz explain to me what will be the impact of enabling HSPA services on the Channel Element load in a cell ?

I heard that HSDPA doesn’t need to CE ??
What about HSUPA ?

Hi! HSUPA consumes much more CE.
In E// hw 1 user on R'99 UL PS384 consumes 16 CE
while 1 user on EUL 2ms 5.7 Mbps consumes up to 96 CE.

For Huawei HSUPA consumes CEs but it's not that huge in number as compared to E///.

The impact on the baseband will be vendor dependant. Which vendor are you using?

In general HSDPA will not consume CE but will take away from the overall CE capacity of the baseband module.

So say your BB module supports 600CE in the DL. By enabling HSDPA it might drop to 500CE (that is just an example).

HSUPA will consume CE but how many and in what steps is depends on the vendor. Typically they will have a CE ladder diagram that shows what that is.
