1 Introduction
This section provides guidelines and recommendations for the setting of key over-the-air
(OTA) cdma2000 parameters. The emphasis is on parameters that impact system
performance and therefore require optimization during trials and pre-commercial testing,
and possibly during commercial operation. Not covered in this section are 1) Parameters
not directly affecting system performance and 2) Base station implementation-specific
parameters. Covered is a number of mobile station specific over the air parameters, which
may be set independently by the mobile station and may impact mobile station or system
performance.
This section is targeted towards system operators and engineers who need to:
• Know the recommended values (or range of values) system parameters should be set to
• Understand the reason behind the choice of the recommended values
• Learn the tradeoffs, if any, in setting these parameters to values other than those recommended
