Dear experts,

I have some concerns regarding the relation between BLER and ECNO.

Is there any direct relation between BLER and ECNO ? In other words, Is it possible to have a good ECNO while reporting a degraded BLER?
When we consider a degraded BLER?

ECNO is measured on the PCPICH channel and what about BLER ?

Thank you in advance,

BR,
Fahmi

Hope that this can help...
You have definition in one file and some comments on optimisation in another...

BLER (BLock Error Rate) is very close to the BER(Bit Error Rate): What affects BER affects BLER also. The low EcN0 is in most of the cases connected with low perfromance. Yet this not always the case e.g. in turbo codes usage even with low EcN0 you can achieve good BER/BLER results. Overall, it depends in the system case. For the PCPICH, yes EcN0 is measured there. BLER is calculated at the receiver and based on that and the EcN0, the modulation is decided.
