Gents,

we are going to cut 10Mhz from the existing 1800 band and left 7Mhz only for GSM so if 1800 band carrying about 40% of GSM traffic what the drawback of the 1800 refarming on GSM 1800 and what the good way to study the imapct of 1800 refarming.

Raid

1800 GSM performance would degrade and internal interference would increase on it resulting in bad KPIs & user perception.
You 1800 capacity is also going to reduce so either you have to plan new sites, have more expansions or shift traffic to UMTS or 900 GSM layer.

To quantify the expected KPIs/quality degradation there are many ways theoratically used like traffic loading, frequency loading which take into account the available frequncies as well as current BH traffic,,,

To quantify the expansions/new sites requirements you can estimate by filtering the cells with more DCS TRXs and then applying logics to calculate wheather you require site or traffic can be shared with GSm 900/UMTS.
