Hi friends,
What can be the possible ways to reduce external interference's (Static UL jammer on whole band) impact on all KPIs?
Like physical downtilting the site? Disabling power control on UL? or any other suggestions?

change interference band values so if ul noise floor crosses a specific threshold that radio becomes inhibted so no calls can be setup on that radio it would reduce call volume on the cells but all those calls would eventually drop anyway......or check which ferquencies and most effected and remove those.....try zone swap make DCS outer zone and GSM inner zone if interference is on GSM radios but since DCS has poor indoor penetration do indoor teting before carrying out this....

One of the best way we are using is to shift traffic to DCS band (Idle and dedicated) because no jammer can completely jam DCS 75Mhz band, so impact of jammer can be reduced but indoor coverage can be a problem if inter site distance is high.

Are you trying to limit external interference for a DAS or smaller network outside of the BTS? If so you can add band filters that will dramatically limit the amount of interference. If we are talking about another site interfering with the site your working on then shifting the traffic would probably be the best way to go!

From my exxperiance the best way is to activate the DCS1800 band then push the traffic to be carried by the new band which totally enhance the affected KPIs.

BillyOcean,
We are talking about external interference which mean interference from some jammers source not from other sites, And as whole GSM band is jammed so you can't have any filters!

Dears,

The underlaid to Overlaid Conversion is a good option, but some vigilant operators will never allows this, especially in cities, as the coverage is being compromised if DCS serves as Underlaid Subcell. But yes, clear improvement is seen in the KPI's. Huawei Uses the EICC ( Enhanced Interference Cancellation Combining Feature ) similar to E*******, but there we need a sperate diversity antenna for the feature to work properly.
By the way, Splitting the Concentric cells to Dual BCCH and than favoring the DCS through C2 has given fruitful results in the past.

Best Regards.
