Hi Experts, I came to a new term to measure Load of NodeB in 3G network - "CNBAP". Someone please explain CNBAP, its thresholds and methods to tackle high loads. Regards, jack.

How to calculate the CNBAP nodeB signalling loading?

IUB RL setup attempt + IUB RL add attempt + IUB RL recong attempt ??

My observation was that CNBAP being used to measure the NodeB load or the NodeB board load, but could find much details.

In HUAWEI, we used formula :

Busy Hour CNBAP = 2 * (VS.IUB.AttRLSetup + VS.IUB.AttRLAdd + VS.IUB.AttRLRecfg*2) /3600s
CNBAP Capacity = 120 CNBAP/s for 2 WBBP (RAN 13)

CNBAP Util = Busy Hour CNBAP/CNBAP Capacity

we used "safety" threshold about 80%, if CNBAP util already reach/above 80% , usually we proposed add more WBBP board to add CNBAP capacity.

CNBAP Capacity = 120 CNBAP/s for 2 WBBP (RAN 13)

CNBAP Util = Busy Hour CNBAP/CNBAP Capacity

Hourly MAX CNBAP = 1.7*(VS.IUB.AttRLSetup + VS.IUB.AttRLAdd + VS.IUB.AttRLRecfg*2) /3600
with 70% of safety threshold.

Can slot in UTRP card to improve the capability
1 WBBP - 60 CNBAP/s
2 WBBP - 120 CNBAP/s
3 WBBP - 170 CNBAP/s
4 WBBP - 170 CNBAP/s
3 WBBP + UTRP - 180 CNBAP/s
4 WBBP + UTRP - 240 CNBAP/s

how much capacity if we use: 2WBBP+1 UTRP? only 120 CNBAP/s or..? because you didnt mention below configs..we have NodeB with those spec (2 WBBP+1 UTRP)

Actually the formula in Huawei is:

NodeB_all_Cell(VS.IUB.AttRLSetup + VS.IUB.AttRLAdd + VS.IUB.AttRLRecfg*2)/MeasurementPeriod (second)*1.6

1.6 is the PeakAverageRate

Hi .. in HUAWEI there are some tipe of WBBP (example : WBBP-D2 and WBBP-F4) ... Does it have different CNBAP Capability ?
