Does anybody have complete procedure to activate 64 QAM in the network? I mean what we have to do in Node-B, in RNC and the counters to check the performance of 64 QAM? Hardware required, etc?

Thanks

Dear Dadoba,

I hope below info helps:

Verify that the feature is included in the RBS license key:
– licenseState64Qam
Verify that the RBS 64 QAM Feature licenses is loaded in RNC:
– FAJ 121 1331, Support for 64 QAM
The following features are prerequisites in order to support64 QAM:
– Support for 16 QAM - FAJ 121 903
– Support of Enhanced layer 2 - FAJ 121 1328

For Feature Activation:The feature is activated/deactivated per RBS by the Parameter NodeBFunction:featureState64Qam

On RNC:
Hsdsch qam64Support 1

HW Requirements:
- To support peak RLC data rates over 18-19Mbps, Special Processing Boards (SPB3) are needed in RNC.

UE Requirments:
Cat 13-14 and 17-20 support both EL2 and 64QAM

Good Luck :)

Thanks!!! It will be very useful, do you know if there are some specific pm counters for this feature?

You are welcome. Sorry forgot to ans this part. You may use below PM counters for 64QAM:

Number of used transport block sizes (TBS) with 64QAM (pmUsedTbs64Qam)
Number of received ACKs for a specified TBS with 64QAM (pmAck64Qam)
Number of samples with a specified CQI value (channel quality indicator) for 64QAM enabled HS-DSCHs (pmReportedCqi64Qam)

dadoba, can you please share your test result?

I have tested 64QAM in our network, it worked fine, but I have never seen speeds more than 14Mbps for a single user.

I have UE cat. 18, 64QAM rate = 100%, DTX = 0%, CQI = 30 for most of the session, no transmission or application layer limitation but...

I will appreciate if anyone can share their experience in higher speeds HSDPA.

I've tested and got around 19Mbps.somethings i want to share,
-make sure 64qam work, trnasmission support, 15 codes, UE support 21m
- SIM profile support 21M
-core network license ready for 21M
-codes available, not any other use in the test (voice or other hs)
-good rf (cqi >=28 and stable)
-use ftp, better to use ftp server in your network to avoid internet limit
