Hi guys,

I was interested in finding out what sort of size of Tracking Area people are using in live LTE deployments. I was reading that most probably people will define one enodeB as a Tracking Area but this would create quite a bit of signalling in my opinion. I guess the other school of thought would define them as big as UMTS/GPRS Routing Areas.

Which one are you using?

Tracking areas should be planned to be relatively large rather than relatively small.
Their size should be reduced subsequently if the paging load becomes high.
Basically LTE TAC follows 3G LAC if paging load is still under limit.
Paging channel is able to support 1600 pages per second.
