On Re-use Partitioning in LTE-FDD Systems
Abstract—Interference coordination schemes are essential for
OFDM based systems such as LTE where the implementation
of tighter frequency allocation\re-use gives rise to high intercell
interference, resulting in reduced coverage and low cell-edge
throughputs. Re-use partitioning is one of the most attractive
schemes among the plethora of interference co-ordination and
avoidance methods. In this paper, we present the network level
performance comparison of this scheme with the traditional
re-use 1 and 3 schemes for the LTE-FDD systems. The results
show that re-use partitioning benefits from the strengths of
both re-use 1 around the cell-center and re-use 3 for the
cell-edge users, thereby providing excellent coverage and
throughput gains.
