How many user can be handled by a single BTS and how?? Is it same for BTS indoor and outdoor?
Gsm900 band is divided into 124 (200KHz) parts.Does it mean that each BTS uses a single specific 200KHz carrier for signaling with mobile phones?

thanks..

each BTS have number of cell ( usually 3 cells ) . each cell have number of TRX ( usually 2-4 TRX). each TRX is assign a Freq ( 200KHz) if its Baseband hopping it used.

i suggest to read more in the GSM overview , you will find alot here

Number of user that can handle a BTS depends on serveral factors-

No of Cell X No of users per cell (No of user per cell is calculated beased on the available channel defined for traffic in the cell & GOS, Erlang B table is used for this calculation)

you can refer to Erlang - B Table

It's depend on serveral factors but i can give you a simple example.
An BTS 2/2/2 have 3 sectors, each sector have 2 TRX. So one sector have 16 timeslots. Number of TCH (without HR)= 16 - 2(edge+gprs) - 2 (SDCCH+BCCH) =12.
==> refer in Erlang B with GOS=2%, the traffic = 6.615 Erl. Mean traffic of one user is 0.025, so the maximum user hanlded by this BTS = 6.615/0.025 = 264.

The numbers of edge/gprs, SDCCH and BCCH channels are variable.
