View Full Version : Question Testing DC HSPA+ network with TEMS

Dear forum members,

I need to perform some drive tests on DC HSPA+ network.

Would you share some experience and information about testing such network with TEMS.

I understood that I will need device with Qualcomm 8220 chipset.

I have TEMS 12, and in the connectable devices list chipset TD8220 EU is listed. I couldn't find any info for this chipset.

If it is not possible to test DC HSPA+ network with TEMS 12, would you advice some newer version and device ?

Your TI will work with Huawei modems like E372. You have dedicated analysis windows in TI12 for DC.

Thanks for the info.

However, I understood that with TI 12 and E372 I won't be able to get RF data per antenna. Not that it is so important but still it should be noted.

I've read TI 13.1 technical product description and there it was stated:


Windows Experience Index (WEI) scores should meet the following requirements:
 Minimum configuration: CPU > 4.5 and Graphics > 3.0
 Maximum configuration: CPU > 5.2 and all scores > 4.0.
By “maximum configuration” is meant:
 (GSM, WCDMA Rel. 99, and CDMA:) Up to six concurrent voice calls or up to four concurrent data service sessions.
 (EV-DO, HSPA, LTE:) One or a maximum of two concurrent data service sessions. The lower number is due to technical limitations of NDIS and device drivers.

You can see RF info only for anchor cell. You can see SQI and other HSPA params for both cells.

Have you ever tried 3 sessions with E372 ?

I had problems making three concurrent sessions at the same time with TEMS (no matter GSM/UMTS).

I never did that because I know that Windows OS is not allowing more than one Internet connection. All the traffic will be routed to a single default network.

If TEMS would run on Linux....

TEMS 12 is managing the dial-ups differently than the previous versions.

With TI 11.x, for example, when the dial-up is connected trough TEMS you can use it to transfer data from Windows (e.g. open web page) but TI 12 creates its own dial-ups that when connected, can't be used outside TEMS.

I've tested with 2 sessions and there was no problem. However, I need 3 sessions.
