3G Drive Test

Hi Bro

i'm going to perform test the 3G network by tems investigation ,

i dont know which equipment and softeware i need ,

i have :

1- ti 11.0.1
2-k800 tems pocket phone
3-GPS

i seems i need to have more equipment for begining my work :)

You may need :
- a scanner (PCtel or Rhode & Shwartz)
- a laptop
- Dead reckoning installed on your truck if you are interesed at driving downtown (with dense high rise building).
- Some aircard if you want to test data thxput.

On the post processing part (once you collected the data) :
- Tems vizualization or Actix

On top of all of the above : a fair bit of patience, and a decent support from your vendor (ascom) since it's never plug & play ;)

for test 3G k800 is good but if you use c905 and w995 very better

k800 :
2G Network GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network UMTS 2100

c905

2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 2100 HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - C905a

w995

2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

Dear haryarin,

Depending on the requirements of your project, you will need different equipment.
You should check if your K800 is connectable to TEMS, since not all pocket TEMS can do that.

Here is an example:

1. K800 3G Voice
2. Another 3G phone for Idle
3. Datacard for PS tests (some huawei models are connectable to TEMS 11.0.1) Depending on the maximum speed of the measured network you will select appropriate model.
4. 3G Scanner
5. GPS

for 3G if you need scanner you can use w995
this packet tems phone have scanner also
this perfecte tems phone for driver test and UMTS but for HSUPA and HSDPA you need deta card .i think huawei E180 appropriate option

If your network is UMTS 2100 you can use use 2 K800 for Voice and Idle and one K790 for GSM Scanner (it is optional).

You still need 3G scanner. The idea with 3G scanner is the same as for 2G.

As for PS (Packet Switched test), you can test FTP DL/UL for throughput and ping for delay.

Hi,
for scanner u can use Anritsu ML8720B or ML8740B , also u can use ML8780 and ML8781.

we tested them with TEMS ver 10.0.05 and TEMS 13.1

it is working very good , please test that .
