RNC 3810 Summary
The following is a summary of the RNC 3810 radio network controller.
Standard: The RNC 3810 is designed to meet the 3GPP ’99 specifications.
Fast network roll-out
· Installation: The RNC 3810 is delivered pre-tested and pre-configured
· Network configuration: The RNC 3810 is supported with TRAM and RANOS to
allow fast and efficient network configuration.
· Easy to find site space: With a small footprint it is easy to find a place where RNC
3810 can be installed.
Efficient
· Transmission: Several ATM interface types are supported and the RNC can act as
traffic concentrator and ATM switch and also supports point-to-point connections.
· Radio spectrum: Using advanced power- and quality control algorithms the RNC
3810 minimises the interference for an efficient radio spectrum usage.
High reliability and availability
· Redundancy: The RNC 3810 is designed with redundancy for all HW.
· Hot-repair: Hardware boards can be replaced and/or added while in operation.
· Hot software upgrade: Corrections and upgrades are made while in operation.
· Fault pin-pointing: Root-cause fault pin-pointing for short restore time.
Flexible
· Modular product configurations: RNC 3810 provides a modular hardware
architecture where all configurations are created from a limited set of building
blocks, 1-9 sub-racks (shelves) in 1-3 cabinets, serving 21700-375000 subscribers,
using just 7 basic types of boards.
· Expandability: All expansion up to maximum RNC 3810 size is handled without
disturbing on-going traffic.
· Service mix: The same RNC 3810 HW configuration handles “any” traffic mix, i.e.
changing user traffic patterns do not effect HW configurations.
· Evolution: The RNC 3000 family is designed for easy introduction of new
technologies, new product packages (HW and combination nodes) and new radio
and transmission functionality.
· O&M access: The RNC 3810 O&M functionality is accessible from any node in the
network making the management task available for everyone everywhere.
