Near/far

Guys,

how could you estimate the near field distance?
Does it differ from Dense urban to rural, etc?

Is a function of wavelength.
Usually some authors define far field as distances >=3*Lambda, where lambda is the wavelength.
Others says 10*lambda...
The behavior of field is different in far field respect to near field.
