Hi Experts,

Based on your experience What's the MS_TXPWR_MAX_CCH recommended value for both GSM900 & GSM1800? (Vendor is Huawei)
MS_TXPWR_MAX_CCH is the maximum TX power an MS may use when accessing the system (using RACH).

We have kept MS_Txpwer_Max_CCH for 900Band=5 & 1800Band=0

Remember that the default value is 5 and that is fine for 900 but if you have that in a 1800 cell best you change it to 0 as a setting of 5 in 1800 cell is 20dBm (0.1 watt).

Huawei recommended:

MS_TXPWR_MAX_CCH (900): 5
MS_TXPWR_MAX_CCH (1800): 0


This parameter specifies the maximum transmit power level of MSs. It is one of the cell re-selection parameters in the system information type 3 message.

This parameter is used to control the transmit power of MSs. For details, see GSM Rec. 05.05.

In a GSM900 cell, the maximum power control level of the MS ranges from 0 to 19, mapping to the following: {43,41,39,37,35,33,31,29,27,25,23,21,19,17,15,13,11,9,7,5} respectively. Generally, the maximum transmit power supported by an MS is level 5 (mapping to 33 dBm). The minimum transmit power supported by an MS is level 19 (mapping to 5 dBm). Other transmit power levels are reserved for high-power MSs.

In a GSM1800 or GSM1900 cell, the maximum power control level of the MS ranges from 0 to 31, mapping to the following: {30,28,26,24,22,20,18,16,14,12,10,8,6,4,2,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,36,34,32} respectively. Generally, the maximum transmit power supported by an MS is level 0 (mapping to 30 dBm). The minimum transmit power supported by an MS is level 15 (mapping to 0 dBm). Other transmit power levels are reserved for high-power MSs.

This is one of the Cell Selection/Reselection Parameter which specifies the transmit power required by the MS during Access.

>C1=Rx_Level-Accmin Value-Max((MS_TX PWR_MAX_CCH-P),0).

>C2=C1+CRO.

With the help of MS_TxPwr_CCH we can control the Selection of any cell.

For Example:

for 1800 Cell if the present value of MS_TX PWR_MAX_CCH=0(level) which means that Maximum power supported by MS is 30 dBm Which further can be changed to 17 Level to fix power up to 34 dBm to allow only High power MSs.
