Google Earth does't contain elevation data. We use digital maps for Atoll. It contains heights.

You can utilize Google Earth's elevation profile.

1. Create the path you want, it doesn’t need to be a straight line, it can be multi-point.
2. After creating the path, save it. It requires a name, you can add details if you want.
3. You will be able to see your saved path at the left pane…right click on it and Show Elevation Profile.
4. Done! :)

If you got time to spare, look at

hxxp://www.zonums.com/gmaps/terrain.php (http://www.zonums.com/gmaps/terrain.php)

It can export tiles of G@@glemaps to a file which can be converted back to grd files.

When you click on "Create path" button, you will see the window, you can fill all fields, but do not click OK. When window "Create path" is opened -> draw your line. And only after that you can click OK
