Objectives
To plan, build and maintain the transmission network in the Operations Western region
To oversee external contractors with regard to installations of different equipment
To test and accept the installations of the contractors
To plan the layouts for the equipment for the installation
To liase with other companies regarding transmission link problems in the network
To build new transmission links when necessary
To maintain the transmission links installed by the client To build and maintain the DXX equipment
To maintain synchronisation equipment

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
3 year diploma/degree in Communication Electronics or Electrical Engineering / Relevant 3 year Technical Degree / Diploma (S4, T3, N6) (NQF level 5) (Essential)
EXPERIENCE:
3 years or more experience in the telecommunications industry, inclusive of transmission, Microwave, SDH systems and optic fiber planning (Essential)
Experience with data networks, switching, radio, DXX equipment (Desirable)
Experience with synchronization equipment (Desirable)
Experience in microwave installations as well as link planning (Essential)
Experience with SDH planning & configuration (Desirable)
Rigging and climbing of masts experience (Essential)
Experience in working on DC power systems (Essential)
Project Management experience (Desirable)
Other
Valid drivers Licence Code 08 (Essential)
Travel & overnight stay (Essential)
Must be prepared to work overtime (Essential)
Long and irregular working hours (Essential)
Must be willing to work at height (on high masts) (Essential)
