Hello Colleagues

Can anyone tell me what is the ideal number of neighbors that a CDMA 1x site should have.

What are the possible issues that can arise from having excessive neighbors.

All comments/feedbacks will be appreciated

Cheers

A neighbor set in cdma2000 can have a max of 40 neighbors. The "ideal" number of neighbors actually depends on the actual number of neighbor sites you have for a given BTS.

As for excessive neighbors, it can cause mobile to acquire a signal from a BS that ideally it shouldn't if its far away. This will also cause a mobile to possibly miss a valid neighbor with strong signal.

It would be good to look at/study about search window/PN/HO parameters while you're on this topic.

40 neighbors can be when Extended Neighbot list message is enabled, so without this only 30 can be used.
But this is in Huawei system and in ZTE only 20 neighbor can be used.
