Dear all,

In our network,NbrOfSCCPCHs was set to 1. I want to change to 2. Anybody tried this?

What is advantage (Paging Success Rate improved?) what is disadvantage (any degradation on KPI's? )

Best Regards

ps. vendor is NSN.

This is will be good implemented

The NSN implement as below :
- If 1 SCCPCH used, the FACH and PCH will be carried out via the same SCCPCH (multiplexed into the same SCCPCH), the power will be the same
- If 2 SCCPCH used, the PCH will be carried via the first SCCPCH and the 2nd SCCPCH will carry FACH-user plane and FACH- control plane
- If 3 SCCPCH, the third SCCPCH will carry FACH-s (containing CTCH) and FACH-c idle (containing CCCH and BCCH ) . The third SCCPCH is only needed when Service Area Broadcast (SAB) is active in a cell

If you have capacity issue (PCH overload/congestion), adding 2nd SCCPCH will reduce FACH and PCH Load, but remember adding SCCPCH will have additional SF Load and Power as below :
1. SCCPCH which carry FACH (with or without) will use SF 64
2. SCCPCH which carry PCH only will use SF 256
3. SCCPCH which carry FACH-s/idle for SAB will use SF 128

But if you dont have power/code congestion issue, will be ok.

Anyway about paging success rate itself, you have to breakdown, what is the reason behind this, is it PCH overload (you have PCH overload) ? or is it coverage issue ? or you just want to improve the Paging SR.

If you just want to improve the PSR (eg your PSR already 95%), just try another parameter like PRACH parameter (constant value in Siemens and huawei, i tried this one and its good.

RNC point of you, paging success rate is low. But there is no any pegged on ICSU or RRMU.

When I was searching, I found one more formula for Paging Success Rate CN point of you. It is really very bad (%20).
I've already shared with finetopix. but nobody replied.

PSR in RNC or BSC point of view is difficult to calculate, since some of the counter to answer the paging is combined with other. There is no specific counter calculate the Answer to paging,
This is the formula that NSN use :

PSR = (MTC Low Prio+MTC unkwon+MTC Conv)/Pag Msg received for CS

According to your problem which shows 20%, its means the denom is too high.

Are you sure that the denom is paging msg for CS only ? Not combined with PS.

Hi,

Yes I am sure. I used same formula, and I took counters through SQL.

By the way how to investigate SCPPCH Congested or not?

By the way how to investigate SCPPCH Congested or not?

You can see the SCCPCH load :
If you use 1 SCCPCH : M1000C64 (Av Sccpch including PCH)/M1000C65 (SCCPCH Load Denom_0) %. If you use 2 sccpch, this will measure the PCH load

Also if you want to investigate the PSR, first get the KPI from Core for Paging SR per LAC, the identify which lac have small PSR.
KPI from Core will be important for PSR.

I created formula (M1000C64/M1000C65)*100 and result is except 1 RNC, the others are around 200% :)

hehe, strange.Pls make sure that it should be on the lowest granularity aggregation (eg 15 minutes, or 30 minutes or 1 hour) to display the data and check it on cell level.

Cell Level is also same. Now, I am going to add 1 more SCCPCH.

I'll update after this.

I added one more SCCPCH.

After when I run SCCPCH load formula, it's reached %500 :)

Hi ,

Strange, i read the KPI formula and it should be SUM(M1000C64) / SUM(M1000C65), and the time resolution is 15 minutes.

So you have to display per 15 minutes. Or you cant aggregate on daily, or you can put on SQL maximum value during 1 day, cant be summed.

Or you can send me the excel sheet pls

Hi I checked the formula, and its already in %, so no need to multiply by 100
and The measurement period is 1 hour in your stats, can you made 15 minutes resolution instead of 1 hour ? just to make sure

If you already have 2 sccpch so that KPI only for PCH load,
Then if it is 2 sccpch, to monitor fach load by using this KPI :
SUM(M1000C103) / SUM(M1000C104) (already in %)
