Hello there,

HLR is a good place to start learning about cellular telecom. Name of the game Knowledge increase. Always try to learn about your part, raise your knowledge one step by understanding how your entity interacts with other network elements "signaling", people who understands signaling and traces could make big difference in the field.

PS is another good place to start, you need to have good background in IP and again learn about signaling used for broadband like MTP3B, SCTP, etc.

Telecom world is a vast world which you need to move step by step. Finally keep good relationship with older colleagues and friends, and enjoy.

:)

agree with below, as Telecom is moving toward a flatter network, i encourage all telecom network engineer to have at least Basic Knowledge of IP. ALl the future transport will carried mostly by IP.
