Forgetting Factor

Can anyone highlight the optimum value for BEP Period and also what is forgetting factor and eliminating (BEP Period = 0) it from channel quality measurements how can it effect change in coding schemes for GPRS and EDGE. Thanks.

ok so anyone can highlight the unit for this parameter bep_period whether 5 mean 5 burts as 1 radio block in GPRS/EDGE has 4 bursts so is it like some 1.25 radio block or does it mean 5 seconds??????????????????????confused....
