abis over ip over satellite

hi all,

we are using VSAT sites in our network (abis over ip over satellite ) and we face chalanging for data throughput.. it is very low (e******* vendor)

please any can share information on how improve data throughput or any soluation whcih may help

Using satellite as your transport network you cannot expect to have high throughput as this is limited by the agreed bandwidth with the operator and the satellite owner.

The one you can improve is to restructure the data block size(make it smaller) your using on abis over ip on satellite transport. Satellite connection usually is not that reliable, so if you have bigger chunks of data passing through your abis you have higher error probability thus lowers your throughput on the user end.

It depends on what vendor you're using but you can search for the parameters for maximum PDU size and retransmission for Layer 1 to 4 and try optimizing it by using lower settings which the vendor allows, which of course is a trade off between reliability and speed.

Sometimes the TRXs are not carrying any traffic. anyway to check the bandwidth of ABIS.
