Hi all,

we have
1) 2g (bss) cells (alcatel)

2) 3g (bss) cells (huawei)

3) E******* MSC and Core Network.

We have declared a reltionships between 2g and 3g cells and:

* we have configured Qsearch_I and FDD for 2g alcatel cells.

* declaring 3g cells as External OMC for Alcatel.

* declaring 3g cells as outers for MSC of 2g cells.

* BSC reselect parameter for Alu.

But still have a problem to reselect/HO from 2g to 3g cells.

Best regards.

Ok, which kind of problems? No HO at all? fails? "But still have a problem to reselect/HO from 2g to 3g cells." is to vague...

Ok,

For reselect: I have to force the mobile on mode 'wcdma only' to connect to 3g cells: no reselect have been detected from 2g to 3g.

For HO 2g/3g : yes we have ho failure, and the mobile come back to 2g system.

best regards

slt,
a trace over A & MSC/MSS interface needed to tune the problem.

OK, start investigate the problem. Do drive test/RNC trace/, from the log file check whether you have broadcasting all of the defined neighbors and everything else, if not check definitions again - correct SC definitions, outer cells, different switches and functionality are activated, and etc. If yes, check whether all conditions for reselection and HO are met...
Statistics check is another way to see if everything is OK, i meant for HO 2G->3G.

it sound like you have the "2G preferred" = on therefore the UE will camp on 2G network. but normally we do not have fails... perhaps thresholds are no well defined. Check HO margins. if correct, the DT will help you to see the reason of fails...

Hi how to check if "2G preferred" = on pls.

Best regards.

I've been out for a couple of days, sorry.

I mean direct retry. If you have direct retry active your calls will be pushed to 2G...

for reselection paramater just have two :

1. QSearch I : always (its means measure on 3G)
2. QQualmin : check this setting (for agressive setting put 14)

From DT/tracing, statistics also find the correct parameter for reselection :

2G->3G ISCR:

- CPICH Ec/No > FddQMin or GprsFddQMin

- Qsearch I

- FddQOffset / FddGprsQOffset

- FddQMin / gprsFddQMin

3G->2G ISCR:

- S SearchRAT

- QqualMin

- Qhyst1

- Qhyst2

This is the common main parameter.

better including the value of paramater range :D

Ummi, for parameter value range I think it's depend of the hardware and the operator standards.
This parameter name is what we have to do to check beside from DT/tracing and statistics performance.

Could anyone here explain to me on how to read a trace file or if per chance there's a software that can read trace files.

I'm also experiencing 2G to 3G HO failures so had to take a trace on the A interface....PLEASE HELP!!!
