SDCCH Max Allocation

Dear Guys,

Just want to seek advise regarding the maximum SDCCH configuration on E/// system. For a 444 trx site with 1 EDGE TS and 1 B-GPRS, CONFACT =4. How many SDCCH(max) can I configure on CHGR0.

And what is the drawback if I reduce the CONFACT to 2. Please base your advise as per actual experience.

It will depend on the concentrations mode in Abis and BSC software license

Hi,

1st: It depends on the parameter MAXNOSDCCHTRX (Maximum number of SDCCH/8 per TRX), note that increasing this parameter decrease the total TRX/RPG3 then TRXs BSC capacity (see ALex).
2nd: If you reduce confact you' ll loose TS:
- confact 4: 01 TS sig /4TRXs,
- confact 2: 01 TS sig/2TRXs
But with confact 4, u risk signaling congestion.
