Uplink:

Mpole = {1/(1+i) } {1/(Eb/No)} {Chip rate/data rate} { 1/Voice activity factor}

Downlink:

Mpole = {1/(1+i-alpha) } {1/(Eb/No)} {Chip rate/data rate} { 1/Voice activity factor}

i = other cell to own cell interference ratio
alpha = orthogonality factor

The caveat here, is uniform services are assumed.
