Dear all,

I have a doubt. Why is it so that SHO is not possible in HSDPA? At the same time why is SHO possible in HSUPA?

Now if in DL, SHO is not possible how can it be there in UL? I fail to understand this....

Also do we consider SHO overhead in HSDPA/HSUPA in CE calculation dimesnsioning? I know for a fact that SHO is considered in Iub dimesioning in HSUPA & not HSDPA...

Pls enlighten me...And thanks in advance...

The physical channels used in HSDPA (the HS-PDSCH(s)) are shared channels between multiple users so cannot be in SHO. The physical channels used in HSUPA (the E-DPDCH and E-DPCCH) are dedicated channels so can be in SHO.

In the DL the SHO is applied but to the Accompanying DCH (A-DCH) which carry SRBs for the HSDPA CHannel.
for other things they are as explained before :)

Thanks for the above replies.

I also want to know the procedure for HSDPA capacity dimensioning & CE dimensioning (& if SHO overhead considered therein). Can you pls give some document or explanation credit free? I will surely add to ur rep....

Thanks in advance!
