Just to use this chance to recommend another application, but this time for smartphone. The name is ExtGPS and if you have a symbian phone with GPS receiver and bluetooth, this app can transmit GPS data (NMEA format) over virtual serial port over bluetooth. So if you don't have a standalone GPS receiver with bluetooth, you can use your phone.

Last time I used it in combination with OziExplorer to map my movements and display it onto topographic map in realtime.
