for accesing websites try to use proxies or webproxies.
You can find more proxies here: Proxy list dot net - Free proxies 24/7 - The Best Things In The World, Are Free! (http://www.proxylist.net)
ssl webproxies here : http://www.azproxies.com/proxy-lists/secure-web-proxies.html

Solution is quite easy :) :) :)

Ping forbidden site to view site IP

Ping www.example.com (http://www.example.com)

Reply from xx.xx.xx.xx ....

Then add site IP to browser http://xx.xx.xx.xx

:p

Depend of your IT Division policy. It works for me. Our IT filtering software filter sites by DNS name so I use this opportunity :)

your solution is not working at all...maybe for the private webhosting server which hosts ONLY one domain.

example:

www.atdi.com is hosted at 94.23.204.150
94.23.204.150 is in fact ns207275.ovh.net and
ovh.net is the Internet Service Provider that keeps atdi.com domain

First of all, a good workaround depends on the way unwanted traffic is blocked. If you could find this out, it would mean a lot.
For chat applications you could try configuring them to work on different ports, if they're doing port blocking. Certain websites they can block with name resolution (easy to overcome), or simply by blocking traffic (hard).
You could try tunneling, but for this you need either an account on a computer outside your corporate network (hard to find these days), or you could maybe find one where you pay for such service. Either way, this won't do you much good for bandwidth hungry or latency critical applications (p2p or voip).
I'd say that the best workaround is to try HSPA dongles and buy your own access to the internet.
