Default Significance of HS-PDSCH MPO Constant

    Hi experts,

Can someone please explain briefly about MPO constant and its optimal value. In our RNC it is set as 2.5db but nemo shows 8.5db during drive. Is there

any parameter in NodeB regarding MPO Constant. Thanks in advance

This parameter indicates the assumed HS-PDSCH power offset relative to the PCPICH power that is used for CQI measurement. For our vendor (ZTE), the default value is 8dB.
However, its dependent on the quality of service and the system capacity.
It's defined on the cell level in steps of 0.5dB.

    Hope this answers your question.

i guess what u see in the Nemo is MPO value. MPOc is part of the calculation for MPO.

Hi.... As I know that calculation of MPO is different which other vendor.
    Huawei :
Measurement power offset is used by UE to obtain total received HS-PDSCH power
    Measure Power Offset = Max(-6, Min(13,CellMaxPower - PcpichPower - Measure Power OffsetConstant)

so if we set MPO higher probability CQI more higher and throughput better or what?

    Hi Sabila,

It will shift reported CQI to higher range and higher level modulation scheme usage slightly increases but not essentially increases HS Throughput in practical manner.

    Hi

do we have similar MPO values in NSN system?

    Hi,

MPO stands for measured power offset. You must be aware that scheduling, modulation schemes etc are dependent upon CQI (and there is no explicit description how CQI shall be calculated in any standard), but CQI shall be a function of receiver capability, multipath environment, interference and BTS power capability. The MPO constants adds an offset in the computation of CQI, so if you are using an unreasonable value of MPO, it may impact CQI computation resulting in some crazy values and impacting scheduling, power and code assignment.

And remember impact on CQI of MPO constant may be different in different vendors, as the CQI computation methodology might be different.
